Monica Rich Kosann

Jewelry has always been evocative and meaningful, but in the last few years there has been a significant trend towards
jewelry as self-expression. Many women have collected charms, beads or bangles that are descriptive of their interests,
connections or places they’ve been.

Monica Rich Kosann has a different approach to personalized jewelry. She believes in preserving the mystery of a woman,
and her distinctive pieces have a more sophisticated element to “provide an elegant and sexy way for a woman to reveal
her secrets when and where she chooses.”

As a professional photographer, Monica looked for ways for her clients to carry their cherished memories with them. She
would scour antique shows and flea markets for vintage pieces that could be adapted to hold family photographs. As
demand grew, she began creating her own designs, and her jewelry collection has been expanding ever since!

In everything she does, whether in portraiture or design, “her ultimate goal is always to integrate her clients’ most
cherished memories and possessions into their daily lives and to tell their unique personal stories in an original and
customized way.”

Contemporary yet classic, her enigmatic locket and charm collections are the perfect way to tell your unique tale. They
reflect what you value most, what you are inspired by, and the people you hold dear. When you wear your locket, charm
or Poesy ring you become your own storyteller.

Like photographs, lockets capture your personal moments. An easy-to-use app allows you to personalize your locket with
photos or text, changing it up as often as you wish.

The idea of poesy rings dates back to the 14th century. Inscribed inside or out with words of love, friendship and inspiration,
rings threaded on a chain can be worn individually or layered to carry their messages with you.

Cornell's Jewelers charity spotlight: Golisano Children's Hospital

Rochester's innovative 8-story Golisano Children’s Hospital opened its doors in July 2015. The children's hospital was
built with the input of the children and families that it serves, and every feature was designed to offer comfort and
confidence while ensuring the best possible medical care. The Golisano Children’s Hospital recognizes that children
with medical needs are still kids who need to play, imagine, hope and be surrounded by family and friends to
help them heal. 245,000 square feet of space offer spacious private rooms where parents can stay with their child, a
two-story Playdeck, a Ronald McDonald Family Lounge, a Family Resource Library, a Sibling Clubhouse, and more!

On Saturday, October 24, guests attending the 28th annual Golisano Children’s Hospital Gala being held at the Rochester
Riverside Convention Center will walk the red carpet and be transported into an evening of old Hollywood glamour. The
much-anticipated 2015 fundraising event celebrates the recent opening of the new Golisano Children’s Hospital, and will
raise funds to complete Phase II of the building project

“It’s going to be a wonderful, elegant evening! It’s the perfect way to celebrate our new hospital, to say thank you to
everyone who contributed to making it possible, and to raise additional funds, allowing us to continue to provide the
highest quality care for our region’s children.”

-Jenni Ralph, executive committee member of the Golisano Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees and Gala Chair

The evening's festivities include an auction, and when asked to donate an item Olivia Cornell quickly agreed. When touring
the facility, she was impressed that the new hospital has created a nurturing and even happy environment conducive to
hope and healing, while offering the best medical technology and facilities available anywhere.

“Sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren…everyone has a special child in their life. If that child were ever to
need it, you want to make sure the best possible care is available. The care and thought put into every detail of the
Golisano Children’s Hospital is incredible, and hopefully will bring comfort to children and their families.”
                                                                                                                                                                                     -Olivia Cornell

Environmentally conscious and socially responsible jewelry brand John Hardy was a natural partner for Cornell's Jeweler's
donation to the Gala. They are a company that exhibits care for their community, and 2015 marks their 40th anniversary.
Each piece of jewelry in their collections has significance and a story.

David and Olivia Cornell had the opportunity to visit the John Hardy workshop and showroom in Bali, Indonesia in
August 2015. Olivia was inspired by their time there, and wanted to offer a similar experience as our contribution to the
Gala. Cornell’s Jewelers collaborated with John Hardy to offer an amazing and exclusive VIP John Hardy Shopping
Experience to be auctioned at the Gala and enjoyed by the highest bidder and up to 3 lucky friends.

The newly opened John Hardy showroom in New York City is not open to the general public, but provides visitors a
unique opportunity to be immersed in the world of John Hardy without having to leave the USA!

The VIP package includes an exclusive viewing of the John Hardy collection, a long table luncheon mirroring the mid-day
meal at the Ubud Workshop in Indonesia, one-on-one consultations with John Hardy stylists, and $5000 to spend on
John Hardy's jewelry.

After visiting this beautiful new showroom, Olivia Cornell is confident that the winner of the VIP John Hardy Experience
will enjoy a magical and memorable day and leave with jewelry to cherish for a lifetime. John Hardy pieces are handcrafted
and imbued with meaning, and will be a special reminder of a wonderful day supporting a wonderful cause.

This year’s gala is focused on a particular need of Phase II of the Golisano Children’s Hospital. Phase II includes
construction of a new pediatric Surgical Suite and an expanded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in order to better
serve their precious patients. The 2015 Gala will raise funds to complete the pediatric cardiac operating room.

“Our comprehensive pediatric cardiac center is capable of offering many kinds of therapies not available elsewhere in
upstate New York. Having a cardiac OR outfitted with the latest equipment will allow the cardiac team to reach its full
potential in providing the best care for patients undergoing critical and complex surgeries.”
                                                                                                                                                            -Golisano Children’s Hospital

No one wants any child to need these services, but Cornell's Jewelers is honored to give to this great organization to help
ensure that the best possible care is available to the children and families who need it.

Cocktails and a silent auction begin at 6 p.m. The evening includes dinner, a live auction that includes the John Hardy
VIP Experience donated by Cornell’s Jewelers, and a performance by The Midtown Men: 4 Stars from the Original Cast
of Jersey Boys. Visit the Tickets & Support page to learn more and be part of building one of Rochester’s greatest treasures.

The Artistry of John Hardy

Innovation combined with a respect for tradition allows us to make pieces of the highest physical quality. Our eight-step
production process employs master artisans from inspiration and sketch through to polishing. Using materials such as
100% reclaimed silver and gold, as well as unique gemstones, our artisans hand-hammer, form metal and intricately
weave each piece according to time-honored techniques, resulting in powerful, enduring jewelry.

                                                                                                                                                                             -John Hardy company

John Hardy is one of the last companies to bring inspiration to life through pencil sketches, intricately carved wax molds
and works of art in silver and gold, all painstakingly done by hand. In this way John Hardy continues to preserve
traditional jewelry-making techniques that originated with the goldsmiths of ancient Balinese courts.

The last model of the evening was Ewa Hlebowicz in a beautiful wedding gown from Stella Boutique in LeRoy. Model
boyfriend Kyle Glickman followed her down the runway, surprising her as she turned at the end by proposing with a
stunning engagement ring he had selected here at Cornell’s Jewelers.

It was a privilege for Cornell’s Jewelers to be part of Fashion Week of Rochester 2015, an event that brings the city

It's Fashion Week in Rochester!

fashion week runway

For the style savvy of Rochester, Fashion Week is the event of the year! The fashion-forward designs are exciting and fun,
and the events bring a great energy to our city. But the best thing about Fashion Week of Rochester is that it’s about more
than glitz and glamour – it serves as the largest annual fundraiser for the Center for Youth, an organization dedicating to
helping local young people who are in difficult situations.

The Center for Youth was founded by youth for youth, and offers an array of programs including prevention education,
emergency housing, vocational training, transitional programs and a crisis nursery for young people in distress.

“We decided from the very beginning that Fashion Week would combine talent, art, design, fashion and flair to celebrate
our amazing creative community while pledging to address the challenges our homeless youth face. We have never
veered from that goal. We believe that is the higher mission of Fashion Week.”

Fashion Week of Rochester
made its debut in 2010 and has grown every year since. This year’s events include a fashion
exchange, 5 runway shows and a boutique crawl.

A new event for 2015 was a lunchtime runway show called Fashion 9 to 5 that highlighted trends in business wear and
day-to-night styles. Cornell’s Jewelers had the opportunity to accessorize models wearing apparel from Suzanne’s
Distinctive Fashions
in Pittsford.

The models showcased our jewelry beautifully, and it (and they!) shone in the spotlight. But you don't need to be walking
the runway to rock these pieces; jewelry is an excellent way to show your style and transition your favorite work appropriate
outfit into evening chic.

If you want to see Rochester's best style and find some fresh fashion inspiration for fall, make sure you get out to one of
the remaining events of Fashion Week 2015!
